Video: The Making Of J. Cole’s Cole World: The Sideline Story

Cole World: Studio Hours from Gneiss Pictures on Vimeo.

I really wish I had more time to comment on this record. I will soon, but by then, probably no one will give a shit. But I will make them care!

Either way, congrats to Cole on going No. 1. Honestly, that’s dope. And…in short…his record is very, very good. Not sure I’d say it’s great, but the kid went in. Has a 90’s/early 2000’s real rap record feel, and I mess with that heavily.

How that feel? Very happy. (c) Jermaine

Big lights, Deep shades (trailer) from Nemo Achida on Vimeo.

Man this is too funky! And those Deion, straight up! Kind of makes me want to cop a pair. Had to be about 3rd grade when I had the originals of those.

This record is off his project you can peep directly below.

Video: Stalley – Shop feat. Rick Ross (Preview)

Looks like the remix to the last jam off Lincoln Way Nights is getting the visual treatment. And I’m pretty sure that’s not Massillon as the back drop. Funny how quickly things change…SMDH.

Ha. I’m just playing. Do your thing kid! THREE THREE OH! MMG!

Video: Kendrick Lamar & Pharrell Williams in the Studio

Kendrick’s talent and recent buzz off Section.80 landed him in the stu with Skateboard P. Pharrell paying Kendrick many compliments on his work with the new record and well deserved at that.

This has to be very gratifying to be young and hoping in the studio with a legend like this. On the flip side though, this seems like such the industry cliche thing to do once you have that ‘breakthrough’ record. Now granted, Kendrick has been posted up with Dr. Dre for a minute now, but I guess my point is, if these dudes made really solid records with their in-house guys, isn’t it a slight to go elsewhere for your next project?

I think it’s way more dope to build together with your in-house guys ala 40 and Drake/Boi-1da and Drake. Now, I do realize Drake had other big name producers on his project, but I guess my fear is you abandon the sound that made you popular in the first place. However, it’s obvious working with someone like The Neptunes helps take you, your team and your records to a potentially different stratosphere of mainstream success.

Either way, what we see is what we get, so I guess be on the look out for something with Kendrick and The Neptunes in the future.

Video: Jay Electronica – The Making of Act II

Man where has this dude been?  Too long have we waited for something official to come from Mr. Electronica.  I have to be honest, this sampling of what’s to come sounds like some sh*t most of you aren’t ready for.  Real talk, real music, real artistry.  For real.

Props to LaTonya Givens on the vocals.  Who knows when Act II will drop.  Hopefully soon.

Video: Big K.R.I.T. – “Live From The Underground” (BTS)

FIRE!!!  I told you.  He has an Outkast feel to much of what he does (rhymes, rhythms, even the name of his next project).

Returnof4eva drops March 22nd.
