NEW ARTIST WEEK: A Conversation with Jay Mel
We haven’t had a New Artist Week in quite some time, cause I personally have been pushing for the re-implementation. Trying to bring sanity and consistency regularly along with just wanted to do cool shit. There’s a lot of hardworking artists that people should hear more about in life.
Anyway, the moral of the above story is New Artist Week is back. One week per month. Highlight new artists. Okay kay kay.
Leading off…no, it ain’t Kenny Lofton in his prime, but…we’re chopping it up with the homie and 3Thirty fam, JAY MEL. Earlier this year he helped rock the stage at our B.o.B. show, but more importantly, he brings a lot of energy with his music. His mixtape, Who is Jay Mel? definitely continued to showcase his versatility and songwriting. Want to get the party started? Yeah, he can handle that. Want to hear some more contemplative rhymes? Yup. Cupboard ain’t bare there.
We talk about his college tour, where his music is coming from and the favorite songs he has created.
Also, look for an interview coming up with another 3Thirty affiliated act, Jay-Five. Stay tuned to this channel. Oh and he just dropped off some new music today called ‘Buzzin” with some left coast people on there.
