NEW ARTIST WEEK: A Conversation with Jay Mel

We haven’t had a New Artist Week in quite some time, cause I personally have been pushing for the re-implementation. Trying to bring sanity and consistency regularly along with just wanted to do cool shit. There’s a lot of hardworking artists that people should hear more about in life.

Anyway, the moral of the above story is New Artist Week is back. One week per month. Highlight new artists. Okay kay kay.

Leading off…no, it ain’t Kenny Lofton in his prime, but…we’re chopping it up with the homie and 3Thirty fam, JAY MEL. Earlier this year he helped rock the stage at our B.o.B. show, but more importantly, he brings a lot of energy with his music. His mixtape, Who is Jay Mel? definitely continued to showcase his versatility and songwriting. Want to get the party started? Yeah, he can handle that. Want to hear some more contemplative rhymes? Yup. Cupboard ain’t bare there.

We talk about his college tour, where his music is coming from and the favorite songs he has created.

Also, look for an interview coming up with another 3Thirty affiliated act, Jay-Five. Stay tuned to this channel. Oh and he just dropped off some new music today called ‘Buzzin” with some left coast people on there.

A Conversation with Wiz Khalifa

During Wiz’s stop at the Covelli Center in Youngstown, the boy JayUp caught up with the rising MC.

During the conversation Wiz talks about connecting with fans, beat selection, “a culmination of shit” being his biggest achievement, and how the one thing he wants to do is have a sesh with Bill Clinton and Montell Williams. He also talks about his influences (Killa Cam, Snoop, etc.) and who he listens to regularly.

Shout out to Will at Rostrum Records for getting us hooked up.

DISCLAIMER: THIS SHIT IS FUCKING HILARIOUS. IF YOU THINK OTHERWISE, YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR SUCKS. Divine Minds and SoulKlap present Give Up the Sticks coming August 31st. Thanks for all the support with the single, ‘Galaga (The Inception of Obsession).’

A Conversation with Donnis

Sammy J caught up with Donnis up in Cleveland during the Crowd Control tour. Big shouts to Donnis for taking the time with us. It is greatly appreciated. ‘Gone’ has been my jam for a MINUTE now.

DONNIS talks about staying true to himself as an artist, his journey leading to his signing with Atlantic, being part of the XXL top Freshman of 2010 and finding his niche in the industry.

20 hour work week, nah 20 hours a day. We gettin’ it in.

^^^ I like this attitude.
