BJ The Chicago Kid feat. Kendrick Lamar – His Pain

There is not much I enjoy more than an artist displaying vulnerability. While the title brings back memories of one of 2Pac’s great emotionally charged tracks, “Pain,” from the Above The Rim Soundtrack, the tandem of jazzy crooner BJ The Chicago Kid and Compton spitter Kendrick Lamar deliver in an equally impressive but more subtle fashion. The introspective, yet apologetic duo reminisce about life’s ills while questioning the worthiness of the blessings which they have been bestowed. It’s a beautiful track from two artists who continue to compliment each other well in both style and substance.

Along with ScHoolBoy Q’s “Blessed” featuring Kendrick, this has definitely jumped to the top of my early favorites of 2012 list. Also, BJ’s Pineapple Now-Laters record is due on Valentine’s Day, so be on the lookout for that!
